Why my Computer is not Charging

What to Do’s when you need to fix the issue of PC or computer not charging!

You have your personal computer with you, you have plugged in your personal computer for charging but it prompts up that computer is not charging then you need to find out the problem of the issue as soon as possible. You need to go through following to get to fix the issue:

  • Check if there is power supply at power outlet.
  • Check if all the connections are intact i.e. they are firmly connected with each other:

This is the first and foremost way of troubleshooting the issue. Thoroughly check if the connection between power plug and laptop charging plug and connection between charging point of laptop and laptop is all intact.

  • You have gone through above two methods but still clueless why is my computer not charging, you need to try out other possible solutions like there could be breaks, burnouts and shorts. Check if the power cord has worn out due to overuse and you need to also check the ends of any broken connections like plugs pulling loose etc.
  • If you constantly face the issue of overheating then the problem lies here. Let your laptop cool down and then turn it on again and check if the issue has been resolved.
  • If the above mentioned issues are not the problem faced by you, then, go through following procedure to resolve the issue of computer not charging

Check your settings:

If you have Windows laptops:

  • Click on Control Panel.
  • Click on Power Options.

Click on the plan settings and you need to check visually that all the settings are in proper place.

If you have Mac laptops:

  • Go to System Preferences.
  • Go to Energy Saver pane.
  • Review your preferences.

Check if updating the driver may resolve the issue:

In Windows laptops:

  1. Open the Device Manager. If you are unaware about how to open it, you can click on search bar and type Device Manager in the search bar.
  2. In the Device Manager, you can see the option Batteries and under Batteries, you can see three options one for the battery, another for charger, and third which is listed as Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
  3. Click on each option to open it and each option has Properties window.
    > Click on the Driver tab.
    > You can see a button which is labelled as Update Driver.
    > Do the driver update for all the three option.

Once the driver has been updated, you need to reboot the laptop and you are required to plug it in again . If with the above processes you cannot resolve the issue, you need to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery driver completely and then reboot the computer.
Go through above process to resolve the issue!
